A&W Lands at Halifax Stanfield

Renovations & New Additions Coming to Airport Concessions

Travellers and visitors to Halifax Stanfield International Airport will have a new food and beverage option. HIAA today announced A&W will soon open in the airport’s food court.

“We are delighted to welcome A&W to our airport community,” says Joyce Carter, Halifax International Airport Authority (HIAA) President & CEO. “Having this new eatery as part of the airport landscape means travellers, visitors and staff will have another dining choice and they will be able to enjoy an offering from Canada’s fastest growing burger chain.”

The fast food restaurant is scheduled to open in the spring of 2017 with hours of 6 a.m. – 11:30 p.m. seven days a week, serving breakfast along with their day time menu.

“We have A&W restaurants in major travel hubs across the country, and know first-hand that travellers are looking for quick, great-tasting food that they can enjoy while on-the-go,” says Rob Ogden, operator of the new Halifax Stanfield A&W restaurant. “We were drawn to the airport and its commitment to offering its passengers new foods that fit their lifestyle. This philosophy aligns with our Ingredients Guarantee and mission to provide busy, burger-loving guests with simple, great-tasting ingredients farmed with care. We’re thrilled to open an A&W restaurant at the Halifax airport and look forward to sending off travelers, and welcoming visitors with a menu of options they can feel good about.”

Throughout 2017, there will be a number of renovations and new additions coming to Halifax Stanfield through its concessions program.

“We are in the process of revamping our food and beverage and retail offerings,” says Jo-Anne McLean, HIAA Director Non-Aeronautical Revenue & Corporate Marketing. “We are working with our existing partners along with new ones, to ensure we provide our passengers with fresh concepts and more choice during their travels.”

Additional Concession Changes

Hudson Group (the operator of many of the airport’s retail shops) is in the process of renovating many of its stores. The newly renovated Hudson News across from Gate 20 re-opened last week. As well, Hudson News across from Gate 22 closed last week. This retail location will open in the spring of 2017 as Island Beach Company’s Nova Scotia Store.

Tim Hortons is scheduled to open its newly renovated and larger location at the top of pre-board security screening on the domestic/international departures level later this week. This new location will feature a larger sit down area and be updated with the latest Tim Hortons store design.

Approximately 5,000 square feet of new space for retail and food and beverage concessions has been constructed on the departures level. Agreements with new tenants for this space are being finalized and details will be shared once they are complete.
