Halifax Stanfield Shares its Unique Approach to Service at International Airport Conference

HIAA VP Business Development & Chief Commercial Officer, Bert van der Stege, presented today at Passenger Terminal Expo 2017 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Mr. van der Stege’s presentation focused on designing an airport of the future by creating a unique passenger experience. He outlined how airports can be more attractive to airlines and passengers by offering a fast, efficient, relaxing, and friendly experience.

Passenger Terminal Expo is regarded as the leading international airport conference and examines the future outlook for airport development worldwide with presentations from industry leaders. The annual conference takes place March 13-16 and is expected to draw more than 5,000 people from at least 90 countries.

Mr. van der Stege also shared a video showcasing Halifax Stanfield’s new visual identity and tagline that was launched last month. This is the first time a global audience sees how Connecting Means the World at Halifax Stanfield. He outlined Halifax Stanfield’s innovative airport service culture program called “The Stanfield Way,” allowing others to learn from this unique and effective concept. Mr. van der Stege also shared reasons why Halifax Stanfield is continuously recognized as a leader in customer service, most recently tying for third best for overall passenger satisfaction in North America in the 2016 Airport Service Quality ratings.

Mr. van der Stege was appointed HIAA VP Business Development & CCO in October, 2016. Prior to that, he was Vice President Commercial with First Air, Canada’s largest independent regional airline. In his three years at First Air (2013-2016), he was instrumental in transforming the organization and achieving a financial turnaround. Mr. van der Stege began his career with Lufthansa where he worked in various management roles.
