The Halifax Stanfield International Airport worship centre, located on the second level (mezzanine) of the terminal building, is a unique service that meets the many needs of the airport community and the travelling public. Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, this non-denominational facility offers a calm, reflective atmosphere in the midst of a busy airport.

The worship centre is an integral part of our airport community, helping with everything from providing a quiet place of prayer to reuniting runaway teens and their families. The worship centre provides many essential services to our community, such as spiritual counselling, crisis intervention, grief/loss counselling, stress management, addiction counselling, memorials/weddings, and bible studies (individual or group).

Peter F. Freeman, the Airport Chaplain, is available to assist anyone in need. Peter has a Bachelors’s degree in Religious Studies from Acadia University and is a graduate of the Convention of Atlantic Baptist Churches Lay Pastor Training Program. He can be reached by telephone at 902.209.2904.

Funding for the worship centre, which is a non-profit charitable ministry, is provided through a variety of funding activities organized and supported by the airport community throughout the year. Funding is also provided via the United Way (Aviation Interfaith Ministries – Halifax). Halifax International Airport Authority provides the facilities for the worship centre, and the chaplain’s salary and operating costs are solely dependent on the financial gifts of individuals and organizations. All donations over $5.00 are receipted for income tax purposes.
