Halifax International Airport Authority (HIAA), a locally controlled, non-share capital corporation, was incorporated in November of 1995.

On February 1, 2000, Halifax International Airport Authority took over the management of Halifax Stanfield International Airport, as Transport Canada relinquished its role of operator in favour of a more appropriate role as landlord and regulator. This historical event in the life of our community will help to ensure that Halifax Stanfield International Airport will continue to provide the world class service for which it has become internationally known.

A world-class airport creating prosperity for our region by connecting Atlantic Canada to the world through flight.

Great people creating the best airport community in the world.

Core values come from within our organization. These values guide us in our decisions, actions and behaviours, which in turn support the success of our people, our organization, our visitors and our stakeholders. Through consultation with employees and the board of directors, HIAA’s corporate values are below.

We are trustworthy and behave with integrity. We are accountable and accept responsibility for our actions and decisions.

We promote a trusting, open and inclusive environment. We appreciate diversity and approach each interaction with professionalism. We want our airport to be a welcome place for employees, stakeholders and visitors.

We work together by sharing knowledge and experience, listening and communicating effectively, building on each other’s strengths, and by helping each other grow professionally.

We are open to new ideas and initiatives that help us achieve our Mission and Vision. We accept that some of these ideas may not work for us, although we value the process of exploring them.

Social Responsibility

We value the communities in which we do business and where we live. We are committed to contributing by providing leadership in economic development and social responsibility.
