  • Winter has over stayed its welcome in Nova Scotia and heading to a sunny destination can help combat the winter blues.

“As outdoor temperatures decrease, we start to see increasing numbers of travellers heading down south to warm up and unwind,” said Jo-Anne McLean, Director Air Service and Airport Experience at Halifax International Airport Authority. “With over 40 non-stop flights weekly from Halifax Stanfield to 13 destinations in the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean, you can get to your sun destination easier and faster than ever.”

Want to make it to your vacation destination stress-free? Follow these handy tips:

    1. Pack your sunscreen

Knowing what you can bring in your carry-on will make the security screening process less stressful. Try creating a list (we’ve already made one for you, here) and find out what you’re allowed to bring in your carry-on bag.

    1. Check your flight’s status before you head out

Winter weather here or elsewhere may cause airlines to adjust their flight schedules. Stay up-to-date on your flight’s status by checking your airline’s website or visiting www.halifaxstanfield.ca.

    1. Give yourself extra time to get to the Airport

Winter conditions can make a safe drive to the Airport longer than you might expect. Check the weather and road conditions before you leave so you don’t have to rush once you’re on the road.

    1. Plan ahead and park with ease

A large number of travellers means parking is in high demand at the terminal. Why not take advantage of our Park’N Fly lot? With ample parking spaces available and a Winter Getaway Special of $52.17/week (+ HST), it takes the guess work out of finding a place to park.

    1. Check-in and go to security screening

After check-in at the airport, we recommend passengers immediately proceed to security screening and allow a minimum of an hour after check-in to help prevent a missed flight. Enjoy our free Wi-Fi service and share pre-vacation photos with family and friends. We also have a variety of dining and shopping options post-security for you to grab a bite or pick up a last-minute item before your trip.
