Halifax Stanfield International Airport (Halifax Stanfield) is moving through one of its busiest travel periods with record-setting momentum, as passenger traffic is projected to reach 4.4 million passengers in 2026.

The airport recently recorded its strongest second quarter to date, with passenger volumes up 12 per cent compared to the same period in 2025.
Driven by continued growth in international and transborder travel, June passenger numbers increased 19 per cent year-over-year, with international traffic up 41 per cent. This growth underscores the importance of ensuring that travellers are informed, prepared and supported throughout their journey.
Halifax Stanfield and its partners continue to invest in enhancing the passenger experience through updated technology, equipment and practical travel supports and programs designed to help travellers move through the airport with greater confidence.

Travellers can help make the most of their airport experience by planning ahead and following these travel tips:
Before You Leave Home
- Come prepared: Ensure you have all your required travel documents (and that they haven’t expired) well before your trip. Airlines have varying size limits for carry-on baggage, so be sure your bag meets your airline’s requirements before travelling and follow CATSA’s travel guidelines.
- Check-In Ahead of Time: Save time by checking in online up to 24 hours before your flight using your airline’s website or app and downloading or printing your boarding pass before leaving home.
Getting to the Airport
- Arrive Early: It is recommended to arrive at least two hours before a domestic flight and three hours before an international departure. Arriving early gives lots of time to park, check baggage and make your way through security.

At the Airport
- Move through security with ease:
Passengers travelling through the Domestic/International security checkpoint can leave permitted liquids, aerosols, gels, medical devices and large electronics inside their carry-on bags during screening. - Travelling Direct to the United States?
Eligible U.S. travellers can take advantage of Enhanced Passenger Processing (EPP), a contactless customs experience that uses facial recognition technology to verify identity, citizenship and eligibility while maintaining strong security standards. - Make the most of your time:
