Dreaming of cobblestone streets, culinary delights, and relaxed vacation vibes? WestJet can help these dreams come true with the expansion of its transatlantic services at Halifax Stanfield this summer. Offering non-stop access to nine European destinations, WestJet is further strengthening Halifax’s role as Canada’s Atlantic gateway with Europe.

For summer 2026, WestJet is offering three new European connections in Halifax, including Copenhagen, Lisbon, and Madrid. The airline is also resuming non-stop service between Halifax and Amsterdam, Barcelona, Dublin, Edinburgh, London Gatwick, and Paris. WestJet’s services to Copenhagen, Amsterdam, and Paris are also complemented by extended access for our guests to dozens of destinations further into Europe with its codeshare partners, SAS, KLM, and Air France.

“Canadians are increasingly looking for more travel options and flexibility, and interest in Europe continues to grow,” said Marie Manning, Vice President, Business Development & Chief Commercial Officer at Halifax International Airport Authority. “With nine non-stop European destinations this summer, Halifax offers one of the most diverse selections of transatlantic service in the country, making it easier than ever to reach Europe.”

This continued growth represents a significant investment by WestJet in Halifax as a strategic transatlantic bridge within its summer network. To complement its European services, the airline has increased its domestic connectivity in Halifax by 50 per cent year-over-year and added a new non-stop Halifax – Detroit service to connect to its partner, Delta Air Lines’ network throughout the United States.

“Halifax is a key gateway for WestJet, connecting Canadians across the Atlantic to nine major European destinations and beyond with our codeshare partners,” said Jared Mikoch-Gerke, WestJet Director Airport Affairs and Alliances. “We are proud to continue growing our international and domestic networks in partnership with Halifax Stanfield International Airport, supporting the people, businesses, and communities that make this region such a vital part of our operations.”

Non-stop flights between Halifax and all nine European markets are under eight hours, with Dublin service as short as 5.5 hours, providing convenient, efficient travel for both leisure and business passengers.

The expanded schedule not only enhances outbound travel options for Canadians but also supports inbound tourism, welcoming more European visitors to Nova Scotia and the broader Atlantic region.

“WestJet’s continued growth in Halifax strengthens our connection to key European markets and reinforces our role as a gateway to Atlantic Canada,” said Halifax Regional Municipality Mayor Andy Fillmore. “These routes help bring more visitors to our region – supporting local businesses, jobs, and the tourism sector as our region continues to grow.”
