Halifax Stanfield has been recognized as Best International Airport 2018 – Eastern Canada by Aviation Week Network’s Air Transport World (ATW) for its 2018 Annual Industry Achievement Awards.

The ATW Airline Industry Achievement Awards are given to individuals and organizations that have distinguished themselves through outstanding performance, innovation, and superior service.

“We are honoured to be recognized by the air transport industry for this prestigious award,” says Joyce Carter, Halifax International Airport Authority (HIAA) President & CEO. “I believe it comes as a result of the great cooperation and collaboration among everyone in our airport community and I would like all of our stakeholders to share in this success.”

For these awards, Eastern Canada includes all provinces east of Manitoba. The award was formally announced and presented on March 27, 2018, in Dublin, Ireland.

Halifax Stanfield has also once again been rated by passengers to be among the world’s best airports by the Skytrax World Airport awards. It was announced in Stockholm, Sweden on March 21, that Halifax Stanfield received 4th Best Regional Airport in North America. Halifax was one of only two Canadian airports that placed in the top 10 of this category.

“What makes this award special, is that it gives our passengers a voice and an opportunity to let us know how we’re doing,” says Carter. “We are here to serve the travelling public and we are thrilled to know passengers have chosen to rate us so highly.”

The Skytrax World Airport Awards are voted for by air travellers in the largest, annual global airport customer satisfaction survey.

The 2018 Skytrax Awards are based on 13.73 million airport survey questionnaires completed by over 100 different nationalities of airline customers during the survey period. The survey operated from August 2017 to February 2018, covering 550 airports worldwide and evaluating traveller experiences across different airport service and product key performance indicators – from check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security and immigration through to departure at the gate.
