Halifax Stanfield has once again been rated by passengers as one of the best airports in the world.

In March, it was announced by Airports Council International (ACI) World that Halifax Stanfield tied for the third place ranking in the Best Airport by Region (over 2 million passengers per year) category. Yesterday, HIAA President & CEO, Joyce Carter, received the award while attending the 2017 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards Gala Ceremony held at the Halifax Convention Centre.

“I’m delighted to have accepted this award on behalf of the entire Halifax Stanfield community while hosting the inaugural Customer Excellence Global Summit in Halifax,” says Carter. “Being continuously acknowledged by our passengers is truly humbling. The Halifax Stanfield team are the ones responsible for delivering an excellent customer experience. We wouldn’t be where we are today, without their belief and dedication to our values, vision and purpose.”

A number of dignitaries and community partners were in attendance at the Gala, including The Honourable Stephen McNeil, Premier of the Province of Nova Scotia and His Worship, Mike Savage, Mayor of Halifax Regional Municipality.

“Our airport is a critical piece of infrastructure, helping drive our province’s economic growth, tourism, trade, foreign investment, and immigration,” said Premier Stephen McNeil. “We have seen impressive growth at Halifax Stanfield in recent years, including a record number of passengers served in 2017. Congratulations to Joyce Carter and her team for their outstanding leadership and hard work.”

“In today’s environment, global connections are more important than ever. As Halifax continues to work with our partners to bring new business and trade opportunities to our region, we are fortunate to have a strong partner in our world-class, award-winning airport” said Mayor Savage.

Managed by Airports Council International (ACI), ASQ is the world-renowned and globally established customer service benchmarking program measuring passenger satisfaction. The ASQ program provides research tools and management information to over 360 participating airports worldwide to better understand passengers’ views and what they want from an airport’s products and services.

ASQ awards are presented to airports whose passengers have rated them the highest over the course of a year, based on their demonstrated commitment to providing an excellent customer experience. Through its years in this global airport ranking program, Halifax Stanfield has earned a total of 30 awards – 16 first place, eight second place and six third place.

The event attracted over 400 delegates and provided Halifax Stanfield, the city, the province and the region with international exposure and business development and tourism opportunities.
